The Role

We are a passionate team of winemakers and technologists with a shared vision: to build revolutionary software for the wine industry to better manage production and workflow from vine to bottle. As a Product Owner, you’ll be a key member of the Product Team by working alongside the Product Manager and UX Designer to design, document, and release new features and improvements to the InnoVint platform.

The Product Owner acts on behalf of the Product team and ensures that the product team’s vision and goals are realized during new feature development and delivery. As the critical liaison between the Product Design Team and the Engineering Team, an InnoVint Product Owner is an empowered member of the product development team and owns the execution of work alongside Engineering. The Product Owner partners with the product and design managers to understand scope and goals of each initiative, and translates design mockups and user flows into actionable user stories for engineers to build.

An InnoVint Product Owner…

  • Participates in solution and feature design with the Product Team
  • Writes detailed and comprehensive user stories for new features that clearly define both the expected functionality and acceptance criteria
  • Partners with the Product Manager and Engineering Team to schedule user story development across engineering sprints
  • Works closely with engineers to test, validate, and approve finished user stories
  • Participates deeply in engineering sprints by overseeing development across all user stories
  • Keeps Product Team and other stakeholders informed on the status of user stories
  • Is empowered to make granular product decisions when questions arise in engineering sprints while fully communicating these decisions to the Product Team
  • Owns comprehensive QA & testing on all new feature development
  • Constantly represents the voice of the product team to ensure the tenants and goals of the Product Team are being adhered to in every new feature engineering sprint
  • Contributes to product marketing and communications support (Partner with CS for appropriate support documentation, content-gathering for product marketing)

Who You Are

  • You have 2+ years directly using InnoVint as a winemaker
  • You have winery operations experience with a deep understanding of wine growing, winemaking, and/or selling wine.
  • You are fluent on a computer and have an affinity for software technology
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You are detail-oriented
  • You have excellent written skills with a desire to break down complex winemaking processes into easily-digestible user stories for developers to understand
  • You have excellent verbal communication skills and value empathy and collaboration among peers.
  • You like a start-up environment and are excited to play an active role in creating and iterating on internal systems, processes, and playbooks
  • You pride yourself on strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills
  • You want to join a remote, asynchronous team that strikes the right balance between collaborative video calls and heads-down asynchronous work
  • You are an especially strong candidate if you are located on the west coast
